Augustinian Recollect Vocation Promoters Convene

The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few. Pray, therefore, the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers to His vineyard. ( Lk. 10:2)
By these words, the Master exhorts everyone to be deeply concerned with the life and growth of his Mystical Body, for which many apostolic laborers are needed. Hence, all Sisters should develop zeal in fostering vocations to our religious way of life. (A.R. const. Art XI #95)
The Formation team with the approval of the General Council gathered all Local Vocation Promoters both in Luzon and Visayas area to respond to the call and need of the Catholic Church stated on the A.R. Constitution, article XI # 95. Last October 18- 20, 2019 was in Luzon area held at St. Rita College Manila- AVR with complete attendance from the nineteen (19) communities, while on November 7-9, 2019 were in the Visayas and Mindanao areas held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy, Minglanilla, Cebu participated by sixteen (16) communities. The theme of the said gathering was “BASIC ORIENTATION ON THE SPIRITUALITY AND PASTORAL WORK FOR VOCATIONS. The aim for this gathering is for the participants to be refreshed and to deepen the knowledge and understanding of the spirituality of a vocation promoter and to be oriented of the role and responsibilities as vocation promoters, to be guided & helped in promoting vocation culture in our present situation and generation and to re-establish, awakening, strengthening our vocation ministry/club in the respective locality with unified activities. There were invited speakers from Directors of Vocations in the Philippines (DVP) who are experts in giving the topics to the different National Vocation Ministers in the Philippines’ conference. Fr. Noel Montes, a Diocesan priest and Vocation Director in the Diocese of Zambales and at the same time a DVP Officer- Auditor gave the topic; The Spirituality of a Vocation Promoter on the first day while Fr. Jayson David, SDB who is the Vocation Director of the Salesian of Don Bosco and the DVP Finance Officer shared his expertise on the topic; Pastoral Work for Vocations, Vocation Culture and some strategies on promoting vocations on the second day.
The topics, discussions and sharing throughout the session somehow rejuvenate the participants’ spirit in exercising the vocation ministry and at the same time a way of awakening for Vocation Promoters to really mobilize and strengthen the existing vocation culture in every AR school, that would be a great means of promoting religious vocation. It was also a moment of reflection and assessment of the situation in terms of the decreasing number of candidates to religious life within the Congregation and in the whole Church. The group was able to make eleven (11) resolutions based on the input given to us by the speakers and from the discussions and evaluations being done during the workshop that will serve as an aid in doing the ministry as Vocation Promoters.
Indeed, the gathering was a very successful, memorable and meaningful experience that helped us personally, especially in understanding our role and responsibilities.
