August 25, 2019 was an eventful Sunday with the visits of health workers. The morning speaker was Mrs. Ricafranca, the lead pharmacist of PCSO. She was at the same time a parent to our equally energetic and brainy high school graduate (Saint Rita College-Manila) named Magela. Mrs. Ricafranca talked about how medicines work in our body, the best times to take them in and how too much intake of such will destroy our liver. She also promised our infirmarian to help with the purchases of the maintenance medicine of our sick sisters. Mrs. Ricafranca was a blessing to the sisters. Besides the information she shared, the sisters enjoyed her jokes and funny stories.
The afternoon speaker was Dr. Grace Pancho, a pulmonary and a Lord’s Flock leader. She confessed that her being a doctor is her part-time job and that she is a fulltime Lord’s Flock servant leader. As a pulmonary, she explained to the sisters the nature of respiratory illnesses with her well prepared slide presentation, what to do about it when we catch colds and cough, how to avoid it and how not to spread the sickness to others when we have it and again how antibiotics, when taken excessively, can affect our liver. She also stressed the great role rest, relaxation and exercise can do to the body.
A very eventful afternoon indeed. The sisters hoped that we will have more of those kinds of input in the next few months.
