Sisters Celebrate Jubilee of Religious Profession

MANILA, PHILIPPINES- May 16, 2018 was a special day for the AR sisters! Batch 93 had their Silver jubilee, batch 68, their Golden Jubilee and batch 58, their Diamond Jubilee! Looking at these three different generation of sisters, one can see how the congregation evolved through her years of service in the vineyard of the Lord! The sisters understand that perseverance in the religious life entails contemplation and enjoying a deeper relationship with the Lord who is the author of one’s vocation. Secondly, they are aware that each sister’s loving relationship with HIM is manifested in her dealings with others in the community and in the apostolate.

Sisters from the different communities and family members of the jubilarians had all travelled from different parts of the country in order to be present for this special celebration. Promptly at 9:00 A.M., at San Sebastian Basilica, the procession of the diamond, golden and silver jubilarians going to the altar began together with the formation team, the general council, around seventy (70) priests and two (2) bishops. Most Rev. Jose F. Advincula, DD, Archbishop of Cadiz was the main celebrant.
During the homily, the saintly bishop exhorted the jubilarians to encounter the Truth and to preach Him. He said, “This Truth is not simply a thing nor an idea but a Person and so when one encounters the Truth, he or she encounters Christ. Therefore, religious men and women should have a deep desire to seek the Truth, to witness to the Truth and live by the Truth.” He further explained that at the heart of this jubilee is the love of the Truth to each one of us. We are loved by God so we are also called to love one another. It is in the loving relationship with one another that we can discover the fullness of life- the Truth dwelling in our midst.

It would be overwhelming to list down the names of persons and institutions benefited by the work and apostolate of these sisters. Despite all the struggles encountered in Religious life, each tof them continues to serve and give witness to Christ as an Augustinian Recollect Sister.
